Portrait Tips
In hopes to make your portrait session smoother, here are some tips you may find helpful.
If you are going to do a portrait session while you are on vacation try to do it first thing!
This is to assure that no one is
sunburned in the photos and there's some extra time to reschedule in case something happens.
If you are unable to schedule your session
soon be sure to protect your skin while enjoying the beach.
You may want to bring extra clothes to your session if you have formal plans afterwards.
While we may not be planning on getting wet or dirty it often happens.
Ladies! I know how we love our lotions but try to refrain from using lotions, oils, or
anything on your skin before your beach session as sand will stick to you just like glue.
For beach portraits the following clothing combinations are popular: White Shirts
with Khaki Shorts/Pants, White Shirts and Jeans, and Black Shirts
and Jeans. White dresses for girls and jean overalls for boys can also look very nice. However these combinations
are not required and you are welcome to wear whatever you'd like to.
As you will be in a natural setting lighter makeup tends to look better. Some powder
on the face can also help
with light reflections and make skin more even in photos. You may also want to bring along a hairbrush.
If you have babies or children you may want to bring along snacks, drinks, candy,
or a favorite toy. We want them happy!
If you are worried about your children getting dirty by the time the session starts,
bring extra clothing.
The #1 Most Important Tip
Think very happy thoughts! If we have upset parents we have
upset kids. Be as laid back as possible with the kids and your session will turn out better. To even further
enhance your session we'll try not to say the scary word "Smile".
